These two lovebirds from Arizona recently came to Orange County not only to celebrate the 4th of July weekend, but their 4th year anniversary of being together as well. They’ve known each other from a really young age, and though destiny may sound a bit cheesy, fate really did work to bring them together. Cheska & Nigel had so much humor and energy that I had a really enjoyable day taking them around to some of my favorite places in Orange County, and taking their pre-wedding photos. I’m honored, and look forward to meeting the rest of the families in December for the actual wedding day.
Late last year, I started thinking of creating a photography series featuring people and body movement. I wanted to celebrate the beauty of strength and movement whether it be in the form of dance, yoga, or any other sport. Luckily, the owner of the yoga studio I used to go to was interested in taking part in my little project. She then introduced me to other yoga teachers who were also interested in the idea. One of which is Lisa Granger, one of my yoga teachers and whom I had the pleasure of working with on a photo shoot by the beach.
If you’re interested in being part of my little project, please send me a message through the contact form on this site.
Let me tell you the story of this girl. Meet my long-time friend, Sherri. We’ve known each other since we were 17, in college where we took up the same major, Advertising. For the most part I think we took it cause it was closer to art than most other business courses.
Closer to our graduation, she got her first tattoo done and hid it from her mom, whom she’s super close to. I can only imagine how difficult it must have been to keep it hidden, only later to be discovered. Being a girl and having a thing for tattoos is not a common combination from where we come from. Long story short, after a few years of working in an office and realizing a stronger calling for her art, she packs her bags and lands up in LA with an internship in a well-known tattoo studio.
It’s been a long time since I’ve pursued photographing people as a creative experiment, and I realized I’ve missed doing it. Recently I had the chance to work with a couple of people, one of whom is Allen, a young man whom I’ve had the great pleasure of photographing. What I found fascinating was for a young man of 24, he liked artists like Marina Abramovic and followed beatnik style. And the best part is that we both liked theater, even though he’s very athletic, he doesn’t believe in being stereotyped and was open to performing on stage for theater too.
